After decades of pouring myself into family, career, and community — the way women are taught to do, quietly and without complaint — I found myself at a threshold. Not broken. Not lost. But emptied in a way that asked something of me. I returned to the water.
Swimming had been mine once, long before life layered itself over everything personal. Getting back in the pool was not exercise. It was excavation. Lap by lap, I was uncovering something I had set down without realizing it — a version of myself that moved through the world with intention, not just obligation.
But the water asked something of my skin and scalp that no single product could answer. So I began to formulate. And in that process of choosing each botanical with care — studying its origins, its properties, its history — I found the same thing the water had given me: purpose.

Competitive swimming had been mine once. Getting back in the pool after years away wasn't about fitness — it was about reclaiming something I'd quietly set down. The rhythm of it gave me back a version of myself I hadn't realized I missed.

Daily training is hard on skin and scalp. Everything I tried was either too heavy, too synthetic, or simply not made for someone who lived in chlorinated water. I needed something that absorbed cleanly, nourished deeply, and felt considered — not just formulated.

The community that raised me.
A waterfront community on the Potomac River — tucked along inlets like Swan Creek — where my first memories were rooted, growing up with my parents and siblings surrounded by nature and imagination, where I took form, and where I found my earliest sense of passion, adventure, and joy. Neighbors who knew your name. A foundation laid not by words, but by presence.
At the heart of it all was the summer swim team — the hub around which the whole community gathered. Parents cheered from the poolside, voices carrying across the water. And in those early morning practices, something deeper was born in the children: confidence, empowerment, and an unshakeable bond. Families loved and supported one another through every season of life. The water was the meeting place. The team was the family.
East Lothian, Scotland
The castle that embodies resilience.
The second is Tantallon Castle on the coast of East Lothian, Scotland — a fourteenth-century fortress carved from red sandstone at the edge of the North Sea. Built around 1350 by the powerful Douglas family, it was designed not merely to shelter but to endure. Its curtain wall, rising over fifty feet from the clifftop, was not built for a single season or a single threat. It was built for centuries.
I have never stood in its shadow. Yet its story speaks directly to mine. Tantallon Castle was besieged repeatedly — by Scottish kings, by English armies, by the relentless force of the sea — and it held. When it finally fell in 1651 after a twelve-day artillery bombardment, it did not collapse in shame. It simply stopped being a fortress and became something else: a monument. A witness. Proof that what is built with intention outlasts the forces that oppose it. That is the spirit this brand carries. Not invincibility — but faithfulness.
